The blue in this painting and in many of my paintings is Tekhelet, a sacred sky blue or violet blue color that Ancient Hebrews valued for its connectiong to the divine. I think and paint about how the colors of my Judaism (along with its star) have become transformed into a color and symbol associated with violence of the State of Israel.
