I was born and raised in the ancient city of Kyoto, Japan, and still remember clearly the beautiful natural surroundings of my home. This painting portrays my favorite Yoshino cherry,  a flowering cherry tree that is native to Japan and is a popular ornamental tree. Fragrant, pinkish white, and a symbol of spring arrival.
