Searching, as its name implies, has gone through several transformations. Its underlayer is a series of patterns, which I then turned into oversized leaves, and then it evolved into this primarily green and red painting with splashes of ochre-yellow with bits of collage and ink.
I started incorporating pieces of maps into many of my paintings when I found a road map in my father in law's car with directions to my parent's house, handwritten by my late mother in law. That triggered a wave of sentimentality and a desire to imbed map pieces into my paintings. The maps also symbolize my love of travel, searching out new places, which in turn create new emotions and ways of seeing things.
