This image titled "Silent Vigil" depicts a part of Maine Monument located at Merchants Gate entrance to Central Park at Columbus Circle in New York City. When I photographed this monument, I felt a sense of sadness before learning about its history. Turns out the entire monument honors 260 American sailors who died in the 1898 explosion of the USS Maine in Havana Harbor, Cuba.

The digital image was applied to aluminum, etched using copper sulfate, inked and printed using my etching press.
