Giclée Print of Pastel Painting: depicting the tools and bowls of colored sand used by Tibetan Buddhist monks for creating a sacred mandala. A team of monks will traditionally work together to build the mandala, which takes several days to weeks to complete. The destruction of the final mandala is highly ceremonial, where the sand is collected in a jar which is then wrapped in silk and transported to a river (or any place with moving water), where it is released back into nature, representing the impermanence of life, and to disperse the healing energies of the mandala to sentient beings in water and throughout the world.
