To create these wall-mounted works, I examine photographs of folded and wrinkled fabric and draw portions of them in thread. The depth, shadow, and dimension of the fabric are flattened and simplified, reducing a solid to a planar form, able to mimic 3-dimensions, but only rising from the plane as far as the width of the thread itself. The resulting compositions often come to resemble an entirely new subject.
